About NHS
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. NHS serves to honor students who have demonstrated excellence in the four categories of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Our goal is to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. Ever since 1921, these have been the fundamental characteristics associated with membership in the organization.
Today, there are more than one million students who participate in NHS activities. Our chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. territories, and Canada. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.
Our chapter at Fountain Valley High School is continuously trying to expand our reach across campus. Members are selected based on their standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
